I love this. I was the first one of my friends to have a baby, and I wish someone had told me at the beginning that it would get easier, because it felt like the hard stuff was so hard and lasted for what seemed like forever. You are finding ways to reconnect with yourself where you can, and that connection is probably more meaningful because your "you" time is so precious.
Movement is still the best way for me to reconnect to myself. Mountain biking, hiking, even slow walks. After our terrible no good long hot summer here in Texas, our weather has finally cooled off, which means it's the perfect weather for mountain biking again, and I'm so ready to get back on the trails for some quality solo ride time. Except it's been raining for a week straight, which means no riding until they dry out. So I've done walks instead, even walks in the rain with the dog, but I get agitated when I go this long without a ride, and I found it creeping up in me this week. I'll get a ride some time this week and get myself right.
I feel this - it's so hard at the beginning, and in the newborn days it does feel like it never ends. I hope to share that it will get better with some friends who are having babies in the next few months too.
Trails in cooler weather sounds so nice! Hope it dries out soon, so you can get out there.
